Our Guide to the Festive Season
The festive season is one of our family's favourite time of year. From the christmas parties to the decorations, the traditional Christmas feast to relaxing by the river, cooking up a feast to wrapping, we love every minute of it.
Here is how we like to spend it and the wines we will be matching with each occasion.Â
Christmas parties
Thanks to the Thierry's from Swiftcrest, we will be enjoying a Gewürz 75 at our Christmas party this year. It has our Pure Gewürz Schnapps and Cuvée Gewürztraminer in it and has delicious flavours of rose water, lemon, and Turkish delight. Add some pomegranate to add a festive touch.
It is the perfect drink to get the party started!Â
Breakfast on Christmas Morning
In our family we always start Christmas day with Panettone, mangos, and a glass of Demelza. It is the best way to start the day with a pop and this year will be no different!
The Demelza pairs perfectly with the brioche of the panettone.
Christmas Lunch
Our Christmas day lunch is always traditional. We have turkey, ham, roast potatoes, brussel sprouts, bread sauce, Christmas pudding and brandy butter.
We take our table setting seriously with a theme every year and the full set up. This year we will be making it even more special with our magnums!
Christmas Pudding
Christmas lunch isn't complete without a Christmas pudding. This has always been my grandmothers job but recently I have taken it on. When I asked her for the recipe she responded "It's in Constance Spry's cookbook. It's not the one on the first page and not the one with grated carrot." Thankfully this left me with only one option.
We pair our Christmas pudding with the Reserve 'Catherine's block' Gewürztraminer. This goes especially well with the brandy butter and a big pile of fresh berries!
Boxing Day
Whether you are by a river, spending the day at the beach or watching the test this boxing day our Pet Nat is the perfect drink. It is refreshing, light and the best way to recover from the excess of Christmas day!
Happy Festive Season
We hope you have an time whatever your plans are!
