Delatite Wines Cellar Door

Re-opening of Winery Cellar Door

By popular demand, we’re excited to announce we are re-opening the cellar door at our winery and vineyard on Saturday 20th September. Catherine and David are delighted to again be able to share the views, landscape and vineyard experience. This first weekend will be a ‘soft opening’ while we have our stock sale in town.

> Our winery cellar door’s new landscaping

The cellar door at the winery will be open 7 days a week, providing wine tastings and sales, plus vintners and cheese platters, produce, preserves and coffee, but with some extras. Picnic blankets, tables and chairs on the verandah overlooking the view will be new additions, as well as more regular wine and food events among the vines. We’ll also be encouraging visitors via bicycle as we feel it’s a great short ride from town with fantastic views at the destination, and no shortage of beautiful filtered rain water and coffee!

To celebrate the move, we’re holding ‘Strings in the Vines’, an opening party afternoon on Saturday 18th October. The concert will feature the internationally renowned Flinders Quartet, alongside a number of talented local music students, for more info, visit our Events page.

The silver lining to the closing of the cellar door in High St, is the 30-50% off sale on selected wines at the winery over this weekend.

We’d also like to extend an invitation to visit us in our new (and old) home at the winery. If you haven’t visited us in years past, we’re located at the corner of Stoneys and Pollards Rd, Mansfield. If you like, call ahead on 03 5775 2922 or check our Contact page for opening hours.

Wow Factor Whites

We’re SUPER excited to announce that our 2012 ‘Polly’s Block’ Reserve Chardonnay has been selected as one of James Halliday’s Wine Companion Magazine‘s WOW FACTOR WHITES!

Oh, and he also gave it 94 points! He said of our Chardy: “Wild yeast-fermented in new oak, with extended lees contact and maturation. It was a bold throw to pick the grapes somewhere below 12 baume, and to use 100% new oak, but it has been a success. There is a freshness, bordering on urgency, to the mouthfeel and flavour of the wine; grapefruit leads the way on the long palate, but there is enough stone fruit and apple in the mix to provide flavour balance and varietal integrity.”

It’s on sale for the month of July, so grab one now and check out what Andy has to say about what makes a perfect Chardy, or see our tasting notes or purchase here.

High Country Harvest

‘Grape-to-Table Tour’

We held the winery tour and lunch as part of Tourism North East’s High Country Harvest Festival, and began with a tour of the winery, followed by our winemaker, Andy Browning giving our guests a taste directly from the barrels!

We then headed inside for an abundant 2 course lunch of Buxton Salmon and seared eye fillet and a Delatite red wine poached pear, by the fire, prepared by Megan Knapp of the Kitchen Door/PureTaste Catering.

Thanks to all who came along and made the event such a success!

Vocal Consort

Vocal Consort at the Cellar Door!

The Vocal Consort (the tenor and bass vocal accompaniments to the AUSTRALIAN BOYS CHOIR),
provided a soundtrack ranging from jazz and pop, plainchant and sixteenth century polyphonic to comic pieces. The perfect entertainment accompanied by lunch and a glass of wine.
