February 2012;

At the 2012 Sydney International Wine Competition (announced on Feb 25th) our Late Harvest Riesling was selected in the Top 100 Wines, won a Blue Gold Award and was then awarded the Trophy for Chairman's Personal Selection for Best Wine of Show. Following on from the six trophies we won in 2011 it is a great start to 2012.                                                                            Harvest of Pinot for sparkling, Chardonnay and Sauv blanc begins in seven or eight days after almost the most perfect ripening period (post veraison) that David can remember.

November 2011;

On night of Wednesday 17th I was delighted to accept three Trophies at the 2011 Royal Hobart Wine Show (one of Australia's biggest capital city wine shows). The Delatite 2006 Riesling won trophies for Best Riesling, Best Dry White, and Champion Wine of Show. Jane Donat, our winemaker from 06 to 08, made some great wines whilst with us and this was one of them. It will be re -released early in 2012.

Wine Rules Touch Footy; Come and support the Delatite Desperado's on November 20th in a big fundraising day for St Mary's House of Welcome at Elsternwick Park from 10am. Great music, beautiful food, fantastic wines and lots of unfit winemakers/vignerons making fools of themselves trying to master Touch Footy. Around the World in Ten Champagnes/Sparklings (French, Italian, Australian) at 6pm on November 18th - MUST book

September 2011;

2011 Riesling and 2009 Malbec just released. 2010 Catherine Gewurztraminer wins Top Gold and Trophy for Best Medium Sweet Table Wine at the 2011 Riverina Wine Show.

August 2011;

2010 Deadman's Hill Gewurztraminer wins Top Gold in Class and Trophy for Best White Wine Blend or Other Varieties.

2012 Edition of James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion; 5 Red Star Winery again. 09 Riesling 95 pts, 08 RJ 94 pts, 10 DMH Gewurz 93 pts, 10 Riesling 92 pts

May and June 2011; New Winter menu with beautiful home made soups starts 21st May. Drop in on the Queens Birthday Weekend and get a bonus magnum of Riesling with every dozen bottles sold and the new Shaky Knees 2010 Dry White to be released at our cellar door for $12 bottle.                                                         

March 2011; We start picking on Monday 7th and the first varieties to come off are for our sparkling wines; Gewurz for Polly and Chardonnay and Pinot noir for the Demelza. Except for a bit of crop loss in Spring of 2010 the vintage is looking like a cracker with beautiful flavours and high acids

5th and 6th March; come and see us at Cellar Door at Southgate this weekend....our french viniroos Guillaume and Elodie will be manning the stand plus David and Donald on the Sunday.

Sunday 13th March; Picnic in the Park is on at the base of Mt Buller - a wonderful day of food, wine, music and other great stuff! 

19th and 20th March; we have a huge weekend in the High Country; Jamieson Jazz at Jamieson and Tour de Flavour in Mansfield. Come and enjoy beautiful weather, clean alpine air, jazz, bicycles and wine in God's own country!

December 2010; we're now stocking fantastic farmhouse cheeses from Donnybrook Cheese which is a small family owned and operated dairy and cheese making company just outside Melbourne (I pass it every time I go to and from Melbourne or the airport!). Additionally we have; organic handmade chocolates from Lindsay and  Edmunds (in Canberra); TableTop dried fruits from Mildura; Olive Oil from our friend Charlie De Nanteuil; fresh sushi every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday;Milawa breads every weekend; and looking to stock locally made marmalade and preserves once we find the ideal supplier. I envisage doing a lot more with food and produce in 2011.

We're delighted to say that we've retained our Five Red Star rating in 2011 and that our 2008 reds have received some great scores;
Pinot noir and Devil's River 94 points, Shiraz 93, Donald Tempranillo and Dungeon Gully 90.
2009 Rose 93, 2009 Late Harvest Riesling 94, 2006 RJ 92 and 2008 Demelza 90.

Winter Menu
Come in and experience our new winter menu from the Queen's Birthday weekend. We have 2 hearty soups, fresh sushi Wednesday thru to Sunday, fresh Milawa bread on weekends, and our ever popular Ploughman's Plate all matched with our wines. We’ve Moved
In December 2009 we moved our Cellar Door and offices into new premises in the township of Mansfield. We felt it was the right thing to do - so we are more accessible to everyone. Shortly we will also be stocking some Larder ingredients for your pantry. Just think you will be able to purchase your dinner ingredients and wine to match, all in the one place. We look forward to seeing you all soon.
